‘Twilight’ star Gregory Tyree Boyce, girlfriend found dead in Las Vegas condo

Twilight star Gregory Tyree Boyce and his girlfriend were reportedly found dead inside the actor’s Las Vegas condo last week, E! News reports.

The bodies of Boyce, 30, and his 27-year-old girlfriend Natalie Adepoju, were pronounced dead on May 13 after Boyce’s cousin found them at the residence.

A source told E! News that the cousin grew concerned after he noticed Boyce’s car was still outside his home when he was supposed to be in Los Angeles.

No cause of deaths for Boyce and Adepoju has been made public. Their deaths have been confirmed by the Las Vegas Medical Examiner’s office.

Boyce, who is best known for his role as Tyler Crowley in the teen cult film Twilight, had moved to Las Vegas to help his mother but was commuting back and forth to LA for acting jobs and to see his daughter.

The actor had just celebrated his 30th birthday in December. In an Instagram post he wrote, “At one point I didn’t think I would make it to see 30 years old. Over the years like everyone else I have made mistakes along the way, but today is one of those days I only reflect on the great ones. What a time to be alive. Happy Dirty 30 self! Let’s make the rest of these years your best!!”

Boyce had been reportedly dating Adepoju for a little over a year.

On a GoFundMe page, Adepoju’s family described her as a “loving daughter, niece, sister, cousin, and friend.”

“Natalie had so much life to live [and] we are saddened that her life was cut short. Natalie leaves behind her one and only baby boy Egypt, her father, two brothers and one sister, and a host of family and friends who love her dearly,” the family statement said.

Boyce is survived by his 10-year-old daughter Alaya.

‘Insecure’ breakout star Jean Elie teases new project in development

If you’ve been watching season 4 of HBO’s Issa Rae hit Insecure, then you’ve probably found yourself chuckling at the comedic timing of Jean Elie who plays her younger (and much more outspoken) brother Ahmal Dee. Now the scene-stealing breakout star has dropped the teaser for his new project, Send Help.

According to the synopsis, the show, which he’s developed with Soul Pancake is, “a coming of age dark comedy series about a first-generation Haitian-American trying to support his mother and niece as he pursues an acting career, struggles with the trauma of his brother’s murder, and balancing hella dysfunctional relationships.”

“Send Help, is a love letter written to my older brother who passed away. ” Elie told theGrio on Monday. “This show addresses some of the trauma and responsibility that I feel to be there for my family and my niece (his daughter) in his absence. Also, I wanted to illustrate the journey of a first-generation Haitian American, as they work to pursue a dream so far out of the scope of their immigrant family’s understanding. Not to mention, the added pressures of dating in today’s culture. Between all the apps and blind dates its difficult to find your person especially if you’re not 100% with yourself.”

While Elie and his team are currently looking for a home, stars like Jay Ellis and Broderick Hunter have already expressed their support for this series.

Check out the hilarious teaser below.

Timi Adelakun Becomes First Black Valedictorian At Florida High School With 5.6 GPA

Adelakun

The headline is not a typo. Timi Adelakun has become the first black valedictorian of South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida, and has the highest GPA ever recorded at the school.

According to Yahoo News, Timi Adelakun, whose parents were born in Nigeria, finished his high school career with a 5.604 GPA. Adelakun said school officials alerted him of his potentially history-making grades long before his senior year, which kept him driven.

Adelakun added that his accomplishment means more when he thinks about where he came from.

“Coming from a low-income community, it means a lot in general because of the way I was brought up,” he told ABC News.

Adelakun, was accepted to nearly a dozen colleges, including Columbia University, the Juilliard School, and the University of Southern California. However, he will attend Pomona College, a private liberal arts college in Claremont, California.

Adelakun says Pomona not only offered him a full scholarship but also provides everything he’s looking for in an overall college experience. Adelakun will deliver a speech during South Broward High School’s virtual ceremony in June but said his speech isn’t quite finished. He did say his speech will provide “some positive reinforcement” for the class of 2020 in wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

One person who Adelakun will miss dearly at his ceremony is his father. Adelakun did not reveal his father’s name but did say he lived in the U.S. for roughly 28 years after coming to the country as a student in 1981. Adelakun’s father was deported more than 10 years ago when he was just starting his educational career.

“He left when I was in the first grade. … I miss his physical presence and involvement,” Adelakun told Yahoo. “He’s missed out and it’s not his fault. It’s not any of our fault.”

Adelakun is not the only one celebrating finishing high school on top. Identical twins, Arianna and Airelle Williams broke the internet last week when both sisters were accepted into 38 colleges each while raking in more than $1 million in scholarship funding. Nick Cannon, the host of Wild’ N Out graduated from Howard University with a degree in criminology.

Michael Jordan’s Signature 1985 Nike Air Jordans Auctioned for a Record-Breaking $560,000

Nike Air Jordans

Even after retiring from professional basketball 17 years ago, NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan is still setting records.

Sotheby’s announced that Jordan’s first edition of his 1985 Nike Air Jordan sneakers has been sold for a record-breaking $560,000. The Game-worn autographed Nike Air Jordan 1s set the world auction record for a pair of sneakers. The previous record set at Sotheby’s for the Nike 1972 Nike Waffle Racing Flat ‘Moon Shoe’ sold for $437,500 in July 2019. The footwear sharply exceeded more than 3.5 times the $150,000 estimate.

“Building off the momentum from our debut sneaker sale last year, which previously set the record for a pair of sneakers with the Nike Moon Shoe, we wanted to set the bar even higher for our second sneaker sale,” said Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s director of eCommerce Development, in a written statement. “We saw tremendous bidding up until the moment the sale closed, with the value more than doubling in the final hour alone. That coupled with strong international bidding from six countries on four continents shows not only the incredible appeal of Michael Jordan as one of the most recognizable and legendary athletes of all time but also that sneaker collecting is truly a global and growing market.”

During the final 20 minutes of the auction, the bidding war drove the value up by $300,000. Bidders had ranged from the age of 19 to over 50 who participated across four continents, with 70% of bidders new to Sotheby’s.

The immensely popular sneaker was so successful that Nike continued to make new signature Air Jordans each season. Even today, fans and sneakerheads around the world still flood stores and online retailers upon the release of new Air Jordans as well as reissues of previously released Air Jordans.

The allure of Jordan has been on display lately due to the much-talked-about and highly rated sports documentary, The Last Dance, that has been airing on ESPN for the past several weeks. The docu-series, which chronicles how Jordan led the Chicago Bulls’ quest to win a sixth NBA championship, also set a record, becoming the most viewed program in ESPN history after the two premiere episodes averaged 6.1 million viewers.
