Black to the Future: Target’s Black History Line Is in Stores, and We Want All the Things

As someone who finds herself inside of a Target at least once a week on average (what can I say? It’s my happy place), I consider myself pretty familiar with their affordable-yet-fashionable clothing lines—and in addition to a long history as a model for the juggernaut in my pre-Root life, I’ve been known to surprise…

Nike Sells Out of All Online Kobe Bryant Products

Mamba Sports Tournament Series

After the tragic death of retired Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe BryantNike has reported that all Byrant-related merchandise has sold out on its website, according to ESPN.

It was initially reported that Nike pulled the items to limit “resellers ability to stockpile an inventory of existing products, only to sell them on the secondary market at elevated prices.” Nike is evaluating how it will proceed with selling Bryant’s merchandise as the company had some Kobe sneaker launches in the works before his untimely death.

Nike also posted a statement on its website that appears when “Kobe Bryant” is searched on the site.

Along with millions of athletes and fans throughout the world, we are devastated by today’s tragic news. We extend our deepest sympathies to those closest to Kobe and Gianna, especially their family and friends.

As we are learning more details of the accident and the others who have tragically lost their lives, our heartfelt sympathies go out to everyone involved and impacted.

Kobe was one of the greatest athletes of his generation and has had an immeasurable impact on the world of sport and the community of basketball. He was a beloved member of the Nike family. We will miss him greatly. Mamba forever.

Nike initially had plans to release a new celebratory colorway of the Kobe 5 Protro on Feb. 7 but the company is having second thoughts about releasing it this soon after his death. Nike first signed Kobe to a four-year, $40 million contract back in 2003, when he was 24. After Kobe retired in 2016, Nike assisted him in establishing the Mamba League kids basketball program.

The 41-year-old basketball legend died Sunday in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, CA, along with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven other people.

Bryant spent his entire 20-year NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was a five-time NBA World Champion, a two-time Finals MVP, and the 2008 Most Valuable Player. During Bryant’s career, he made the All-Star team 18 times. He was the youngest player to reach 30,000 points. Bryant retired from the NBA in 2016; in his final game, he scored an NBA-season high 60 points.

Issa Rae and LaKeith Stanfield get hot and heavy in new trailer for ‘The Photograph’

Issa Rae and LaKeith Stanfield are ready to serve up some romance in their upcoming flick, The Photograph.

The Will Packer-produced project will likely show Issa Rae in a different light as she plays a woman struggling to let her walls down and find love.

When famed photographer Christina Eames unexpectedly dies, she leaves her estranged daughter Mae Morton (Rae) hurt, angry and full of questions. When a photograph tucked away in a safe-deposit box is found, Mae finds herself on a journey delving into her mother’s early life and ignites a powerful, unexpected romance with a rising-star journalist, Michael Block (Stanfield).

From writer-director, Stella Meghie (The Weekend, Jean of the Joneses) from her original screenplay comes a sweeping love story about forgiveness and finding the courage to seek the truth, no matter where it may lead you.

The Photograph is produced by Will Packer and James Lopez, president of Will Packer Productions. The film is executive produced by Meghie, Erika Hampson (co-producer Late Night, Life Itself) and Issa Rae.

The film features Lil Rel Howery and Teyonah Parris and also stars Chanté Adams (Roxanne Roxanne) as Mae’s young mother Christina, Insecure alum, Y’lan Noel as Christina’s secret lover, and Rob Morgan (Mudbound, Just Mercy) as Isaac Jefferson, a New Orleans fisherman with a mysterious connection to Mae’s mother.

If the latest trailer is any indication, we’re in for some steamy scenes and undeniable chemistry between these two talents.

Trump’s Impeachment Trial, Day 8: Never Have I Ever…

I tried to watch it. But the sudden death of Kobe Bryant and his beautiful daughter Gianna mixed with Trump attorney Jay Sekulow’s punchable face? I just wasn’t in the best mental space to hear more lies on top of mistruths on top of misdirections.
