Kanye West humbly reveals he received $68 million in tax returns

Kanye West sat down with James Corden, host of The Late Show with James Corden for an epic, high-altitude version of Corden’s popular, Carpool Karaoke segment. While on an airplane with a full Gospel choir, West discusses his music, his fortune and his newfound affection for Christ.

West opened up about God’s plan to guide this new path starting with his new album Jesus is King, a Christian-themed collection of songs that is accompanied by an IMAX film. The album comes on the heels of the news that West will drop another album on Christmas Day, his Sunday Service-inspired Jesus Is Born.

The Jesus Walks rapper told Corden that it was God who made him walk in his new purpose.

“It’s God that came and put this thing on my heart and said are you ready to be in service to him. I have no regret and no shame. That’s the biggest thing, me being a perfectionist… The only thing that can be perfect is God’s plan,” said West.

“God is using me as a human being. You know as humbly as I can put it, he is using me to show off.”

Part of that “showing off” includes the Trump supporter’s financial windfall. He explains that he was once in debt, but received an epic amount of money as part of his 2018 tax return.

“Last year I made $115 million and still ended up $35 million in debt. This year, I looked up and I just got $68 million returned to me on my tax returns,” he admitted.

No wonder he stumps for Trump.

While the intricacies of how West came by these ridiculous numbers is uncertain, one thing is for sure is that he’s more than comfortable talking about his money as part of his testimony.

“And people say, ‘oh don’t talk about these numbers.’ No people need to hear someone that has been out into debt by the system, talk about these kind of numbers now that they are in service to Christ.”

Corden asks: “So you think your awakening, your spiritual awakening is part of …”

West butts in “my success. Absolutely. He’s showing off. He’s just showing out. Yeezy worth a billion dollars. It’s the number one Google search brand in the world.”

All the Wrong People Love Jesus Is King

Like many black folks, I grew up in a deeply religious household. That meant prayers before every meal, three church services a week on Sundays and Wednesdays, and pretending like a lot of gospel rappers weren’t fucking terrible.

The next presidential debate to be held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta

The next presidential debate will be held at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta Georgia; a 330-acre site formerly owned by the Confederacy and now singularly owned by a Black man.

“Democratic Debate site is set: [Tyler Perry Studios] is a model for Georgia’s vibrant film industry, an engaged corporate citizen and an exceptional location for our #DemDebate. Looking forward to welcoming the candidates to Georgia on November 20,” former Democratic contender for governor Stacey Abrams tweeted.

Abrams has fought against unequal standards for counting provisional and absentee ballots in Georgia. At issue, thousands of registrations were cancelled for Georgians who did not vote in recent elections and that in some polling places, people had to stand in line for hours.

This key topic along with many others will surely top the list of questions pitched to candidates in the running for the Democratic nomination to run against Donald Trump in 2020.

Perry built a new $250 million, 330-acre studio in Atlanta on a former Army base called Fort McPherson, which is south of downtown Atlanta. He purchased the land in 2015. It’s considered one of the largest production studios in the country with 12 sound stages, 40 buildings on-site that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and more than 200 acres of green space.

Get ready to tune in to the debate Nov. 20 from 9 to 11 p.m. ET. The moderators are reportedly Rachel Maddow, Andrea Mitchell, host of “Andrea Mitchell Reports”; NBC News’ White House correspondent Kristen Welker, and White House reporter for The Washington Post, Ashley Parker.

It will be hosted by The Washington Post and MSNBC.
